Cruising Update
Published 11:39 on 22 Mar 2025
Well, the spring weather has arrived and it certainly makes you wish you'd finished the 8th coat of varnish two weeks ago and could now get out on the water..
For those who were ready for wetting their beloved vessel, the season starts with a commissioning cruise on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April (that's only a few weeks away..). The tide is a measly 4.1m at 18.40 on Saturday (Osea HW) and 4.3m at 20.10 on Sunday, but if this high pressure system hangs around it could be a lovely gentle start to the season, and so much nicer than last year.
If you can't get out of the starting gate by 5th & 6th, then Easter weekend will give you plenty of time on the water, with good tides. We'll hope you can join a cruise from Good Friday (18th April HW 16h30, 4.7m until Easter Monday (21st April HW 19h00, 4.1m).
For anyone who wants to sail on either of these weekends, please let Trevor Holder or John Boyce know. Unfortunately, both John & Trevor have had their boats impounded in Heybridge basin whilst the lock gates are repaired.. but I'm sure they're looking for some crewing duties if you're short-handed.
