The Maldon Little Ship Club is a registered RYA training centre (Use this link to Confirm Details) and is considered to be a centre of excellence, being one of the best equipped training centres with all the latest electronic aids. Our RYA trained instructors have extensive personal sailing experience and a high student success rate.
All courses are normally held at the Maldon Little Ship Clubhouse on the Hythe at Maldon, where parking is available close by. The courses are open to non-members and members alike. Non-members who enrol for any course enjoy a minimum of 1 month's FREE membership of the MLSC and can apply to join the Club as a full member when their course has ended. The normal joining fee is waived if they are accepted and only the annual subscription will be payable. Existing members qualify for a 10% reduction in fees.

Day Skipper & Yachtmaster Off-Shore (Coastal Skipper) Theory Courses.
The Day Skipper and Yachtmaster courses are concentrated over 8 weeks and are designed for those who prefer to study at a faster pace.
You will be required to study at home and complete home-work papers for assessment. All RYA publications required for the courses are included in the course fee. Each student will require their own plotting equipment. It is strongly recommended that students enrolling on the Yachtmaster Off-Shore course will have already completed the Day Skipper course. SRC VHF Radio Course
The Short Range Radio Certificate (GMDSS) course is now run in line with new regulations and covers the operation of VHF & DSC radios. This is a one day course starting at 10.00, with 8 hours tuition, followed by an assessment conducted by an external examiner. The latest ICOM radios are available for students' use.
The course is run on the last Sunday of every month except December. Up to 12 students and group booking available. Minimum number of 4 persons will allow course to run. For further details see the latest poster above.
First Aid Course
The First Aid course is now run in line with new RYA regulations and includes the category C certification for all at no additional cost. This is a one day course starting at 09.00, with 8 hours tuition, followed by an assessment.
The course is run once a month all year round, except December. Up to 12 students and group booking available. Minimum number of 6 persons will allow course to run. For further details see the latest poster above.
