Already it's May, and although we've had some cold and unsettled weather recently, summer can't be that far away now.
Here's an update on what's going on at MLSC:
Following confirmation by the Prime Minister yesterday that the third step of lockdown easing will be going ahead on 17th May, I am delighted to advise that from that date the Clubhouse Bar will be resuming usual opening hours, with our first opening on the evening of Wednesday 19th May.
In accordance with government rules, group / table sizes within the clubhouse will be limited to 6 people or two households, and table service will be provided so that members can remain seated.
Seating within the bar and upper deck main room will be available on a first come first served basis, and so it is possible that if we were to be very busy you may have to wait for seating to become available. This system will be continuously reviewed to ensure it is the best solution for both members and bar team.
Steve, the bar team and I look forward to welcoming you all back to the clubhouse for a well deserved drink.
Although the easement of the lockdown restrictions means that our cruising events can now take place, unfortunately the Calais Rally has had to be cancelled for a second year. On the bright side, this leaves the late May bank holiday clear for us to enjoy a cruise together on the East Coast - destination to be determined by consensus of those taking part. Tim and the sailing committee would love to hear from you if you're thinking of coming with us. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Up to date events can be found on the calendar and sailing programme on our website, and please don't forget to use the crew available / wanted function on our website to get involved.
Our galley refurbishment project is now underway and so for the time being the galley is not available for members to use. Temporarily, items removed from the galley are being stored in the main room on the upper deck, and over the next couple of months work will be ongoing. This may mean at times that access to, and space on, the upper deck may be disrupted. apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Cadet Room Refresh
Over the past couple of months our Social team have turned their hands to a bit of decorating and given the cadet room and WC's a refresh. Thanks to Barry, Steve C, Cally, Sue and Co. for a great job there.
Heritage Information Board
I'm pleased to announce that our Heritage Information board has now been installed in the MLSC planter on the Hythe, raising the profile of the club on the waterfront. Thanks to Andrea for leading this project and all involved in its completion.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the clubhouse and on the water soon.
All the best
