All courRYA training logoses are normally held at the Maldon Little Ship Clubhouse on the Hythe at Maldon.
Parking is available on the quay by arrangement with the Maldon Council free of charge (quay building works permitting).
Our instructors are RYA trained, very experienced in teaching these courses and all have extensive personal sailing experience and high student success rate.
The MLSC is now one of the best equipped training centres with all the latest electronic aids making the MLSC a centre of excellence. These courses are open to non-members and members alike.
MLSC members receive a 10% reduction in fees.

The Day Skipper & Yachtmaster Off-Shore (Coastal Skipper) shorebased courses.
All run for a minimum of 40hrs There are long (26week) and short period (intensive 8week) courses   to suit your needs and learning ability/preference.
You will be required to study at home and complete home-work papers for assessment.
All RYA publications required for the courses are included in the course fee.
Each student will require their own plotting equipment. It is strongly recommended that students enrolling on the Yachtmaster Off-Shore course will have already completed the Day Skipper course. For further details see the latest posters above.
These courses are now run twice a year.

The Short Range Radio Certificate (GMDSS) courses are now run in line with new regulations and covers the operation VHF & DSC radios. Instruction takes place over seven hours and is followed by an assessment conducted by an external examiner.
Course are run once a month all year round (except December). Start time: 09.00 until late. (RYA requires 8 hours tuition + assessment). on course using six of the latest ICOM radios.

The First Aid courses are now run in line with new RYA regulations and inckude the category C certification for all at no additional cost.

Non-members who enrol for any course enjoy FREE membership of the MLSC for the duration of their course (minimum 1 month)  and can apply to join the Club as a full member when their course has ended. The normal joining fee is waived if they are accepted as members and only the annual subscription will be payable.
