January Update

Published 00:00 on 24 Jan 2021

Happy New Year! I hope this finds you well.

There are a few items I'd like to share with you in this message, but I'd like to start with a big thank you to all of you that have been so prompt in paying your 2021 membership subscriptions.

As you can imagine, the club's normal finances have been greatly affected by the lockdowns and Covid restrictions of the last 10 months, and so membership subscription payments are incredibly important to the Club right now, and they are greatly appreciated.

If you don't think you have received your 2021 membership renewal invoice, please contact Lauren on ''.

2021 Sailing Programme As mentioned previously, our draft 2021 Sailing Programme is on our website under the 'Sailing' Tab and in the Calendar dates. Your comments on the programme are welcome before it is finalised in the next few weeks. Of course, the Covid situation is likely to impact our programme, and our plans may have to change. For this reason, and to save on printing costs, we will not be printing and posting the traditional hard copy programme to all members this year. You will be able to download and print the finalised programme from the website and there will be some printed copies in the clubhouse for you to take if needed. These will be updated if our plans are changed.

Heritage Sub-committee The Maritime History Week in May/June will now take place online due to the difficulties associated with Covid-19. MLSC has previously been very involved in heritage events in Maldon and will be contributing this year to the on-line event. The Maldon Heritage Working Group are also involved in producing a Calendar and 365 day on-line book which MLSC will be featuring in. To support these endeavours we will be re-establishing our MLSC Heritage Sub-committee and if you would like to be involved in any of this please get in touch with Andrea at ''

Spring Newsletter Our newsletter editor Barry Fix will be compiling our spring newsletter over the coming weeks and would very much like to hear from you with your contributions. Please tell Barry what you've been upto over the lockdown periods; maybe you've completed a project, learnt new things or taken up a new hobby. Tales of last season's sailing, or plans for this year are welcome, or tell us about 'Me & My Boat' - see previous newsletters on the website for inspiration. Copy deadline for the newsletter is 28th Feb '21, and Barry can be reached at ''.

Wishing you all the best and hoping to see you soon.

Kev Knox
